Since the Summer 2004, a group of bold singers meet once a week to discover fascinating music, strange languages and to improve their vocal technique.
Under the direction of Ingried Boussaroque, the Mandragore Studio meets 8 times per semester et finishes his season by a small concert. This workshop is open to anyone who can carry a tune!

Under the direction of François Taillefer, discover the finger percussion techniques. Darbukas, reks, frame drums, a wide variety of instruments are studied in each workshop.

Workshops on Hildegard von Bingen 1
Discover this incredible woman who was writing music in the XIIth c. During these workshops quite exceptional in North America, Ingried Boussaroque shares the knowledge she acquired during various training in Europe. The first part of each session is devoted to a historical lecture about Hildegard's life and era. The second part focuses on reading her music and singing it.
Requirements: A good musical ear or a bit of singing experience is recommanded in order to follow this workshop.

Discover differents aspects of acting through medieval theatre. The workshops are given by Nathalie Béringhs, that you might have seen in the Barbarossa concert of la Mandragore. These workshops are mostly in French.

During this workshop, we will learn songs from the medieval secular and sacred repertoire. We will work a bit on vocal technique, breathing exercises, singing simple polyphonic songs, but we will focus mostly on the pleasure of singing with a small group.

Singing has a very special place in the georgian culture: it is used as a healing tool, as a gathering occasion. People sing in the field, at a birth, during a feast or a funeral. In this workshop, we will learn a few of these gorgeous 3-parts songs.

Many medieval and Renaissance dances are based on a simple step called the "bransle". These dances are performed by all the participants holding hands and stepping in unisson. But you can find similar dances in brittany, klezmer, east-gypsy, turkish, and even syrian traditions! Come learn medieval Bransles simples and Bransles doubles, but also Sher, Freilakh, Dabke, etc.
Requirements: Having a left and a right foot. Preferably, knowing which one is which...
